Passed away peacefully in his 90th year with his devoted wife and loving family by his side on Wednesday September 20 2017. Cherished husband for 65 years of Erma (née Heatlie). Treasured father of Judy Laberge (Guy Williams), Lynn (Art Wilkie), Ruth ( Graham Overton), Gail ( Will Logan). Proud grandfather of Emilie Caputo (Mauri), Matthew Logan, Derek Logan and Geoffrey Logan ( Emilie Mayer). Loving great grandfather of Izabella and Dante Caputo. Dear brother-in-law of Audrey Ellard and Vivian Olmsted.
Fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Howard was born April 24, 1928 to Charles and Kate Vanstone in Gaspe, PQ raised in Dalhousie N.B. later graduating from Acadia University, Wolfville NS with a BSc (1949) and a BEd (1950). For 33 years he was an employee of CIP Hawkesbury.Howard had a passion for sports including hockey, broomball, curling, skiing and swimming. He enjoyed the outdoors and camping with family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, September 29 2017 from 3 to 6 pm, with sharing of memories at 4 pm, at the Vankleek Hill Curling Club, 136 Bond Street Vankleek Hill, Ontario. A special thank you to the staff of Carefor ( EmJ) and Bayshore for their care over the past few years and to the East wing of The Hawkesbury General Hospital for the support during his final days.
